Santai

Tag: Thai Malay

SANTAI’S journey to success as a family-owned restaurant started rather humbly as a caterer to office functions and weddings. Each year, during the month preceding Hari Raya, however, their alcohol-free fruit cake became a huge success. This prompted them to look at bigger things. In the year 2000, they opened their first restaurant in Taman Tun Dr Ismail serving Malay-Thai food using cooks from Pattaya, Thailand. Since then they have opened two more outlets, both at Tesco (at Mutiara Damansara in 2005 and at Ampang in 2006). The TTDI restaurant is usually packed during lunch and dinner so go there early if you are not prepared to wait.<click

Puteri Restaurant

PUTERI RESTAURANT, owned by former actress Rubiah Suparman and lyricist Habsah Hassan, has gone a bit upmarket. In March 2006, they opened a plush, built-to-design restaurant in Sungai Penchala that continues in their tradition of serving authentic kampung-style Malay food. This is in addition to their branches in Brickfields (opened in 1984) and Taman Tun Dr Ismail (2002).<click

Restoran Puti Bongsu

Tag: Nasi Padang
Nasi Padang Puti Bungsu Batam is a family owned restaurant from Batam, Indonesia. We had a chance to meet the very friendly owner, a young chap who was here to help his brother set up their Kuala Lumpur branch. Eating here (our usual meal, rendang, berdegel, sambal hijo and avocado chocolate for myself and chicken, berdegel and sour sop) would costs us around RM35 per visit while at Sari Bunda in Cheras, for the same meal would usually costs us more than RM50.

Restoran PILIHAN BERNAS (PB) or PB Affliated Restaurant is a smart partnership between BERNAS and selected restaurants in Klang Valley. The program is basically intended to alter people’s negative perception, especially the restaurant operators on the poor quality of rice supplied to institutions and the view that all supplied rice originated from BERNAS. We believe that it is our responsibility to educate them and demonstrate how serious we are about the quality of our rice, hence rectifying the misconception. <click
