WHAT happens when an age-old, ‘girl power’ Kelantanese art form tells a series of love stories by a great English playwright?
The answer is Titis Sakti, which will be staged at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPaC) in Sentul Park, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, from Wednesday to Sunday.
Part of The Actors Studio Teater Rakyat (People’s Theatre) programme, Titis Sakti is a Mak Yong play inspired by William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Titis Sakti, which is supported by the National Arts and Culture Department, has been adapted for Mak Yong by Norzizi Zulkifli and Nan Megat.
Prominent theatre educationist Norzizi said: “It’s my third Mak Yong production, since Anak Raja Gondang in 2002 and Raja Tangkai Hati in 2003.”
